Emily and I were in Mt. Vernon last night and saw this. Needless to say, it cracked us up.

I havent really posted here in a while. I have just been to preoccupied with matters that will remain nameless for the time being. Good things are in store however.
Regardless, Saturday I played with Daniel for some Silver Sessions action. Saturday was the first day I played with only Daniel where I felt we could get the job done with just two of us. It was pretty damn good. A bassist who plays the double bass would be a bonus though. The down side was that I broke one of the inputs to the vocoder I built. Vicky the Vocoder is down until I get can get to the Shack to get a replacement 1/4″ mono input. After that was Emily’s party. It was very quaint and the cats were locked away so I was happy. I think I pee’d like 4 times in 2 hours. I used to have the bladder of a camel and now I have the bladder of a 40 year old woman who wears slouch socks.
Sunday Emily and myself designed the two rubber stamps are using for LSP. One stamp for the return address on mailers and one for the Copyright notice on the back of all our pictures. We also order raised business cards and finished up our logo. My extent of helping with the logo was saving it to the desktop as an eps file. It was mad fun, let me tell you. So after doing that for more than 3 hours (it should have taken 30 minutes, but the server who were ordering all the junx from was slower than molasses.) we noticed how late we were for picking up Daniel and Joe and meeting up with Zander and Zac in Baltimore. We went to some cool diner that also had Indian food on the menu right near Johns Hopkins. Our waitress reminded me of the mother of an old friend from middle school. She was really nice. So anyways. Dinner was rushed and we talked a little bit about the film we’re working with and putting peanut butter in the poop shoot to avoid the draft. After than fun stuff I shat out a few dozen 12″ singles for Zander and Zac to fight over. Hopefully there was something in there more respectable than Mariah Carey and the boobs that will most likely kill her of these days.
Then was Henry Rollins at Johns Hopkins. This is the 4th or 5th time i’ve seen him speak and of course the first time is usually always the best, but this time it was very timely, dealing with “the war”, loads of politics, Anna Nicole, Clear Channel, punk rock (the ramones, clash), soccer moms, the osbournes, and how fucked up America and Americans are. We (i use that word very loosely for me and my friends) are a fucking sad sardonic sitcom. Anyways, I dont understand why Rollins hasnt run for president. He would totally rock. And that fucking pledge of allegience would be quickly replaced with “Bonzo Goes to Bitburg.”
So I have probably had some of the most busiest days of my life these past couple days. I am also about to crash out of this seat on to the floor in a tired rage of sleep. But I will get through this with my Parlament (There is funk after death).
Last friday night Daniel came down to the city of sin or um, DC. We went to Chipotle and I got an amazing Chicken Fajita. This was the one in Rockville. They sorta skimp you there. The one in Bethesda is way more killer. They put so much more funk in there. I felt the funk in that one. Anyways…Daniel was gracious enough to hook me up with a ticket to Rollins at 930 that nite. On the way there we listened to some funkin’ dope ass organic drum and bass and some nice organic house. It very much so made me want to start creating again. I really need to start getting back in that groove. Regardless Rollins was funny as a P-Funk. He talked about so many funny things that we all think about but no one ever talks about. That is the shit that turns me on. In the non-sexual kinda way. It was also pretty funny seeing Rollins come out on stage. He really looked like a GI Joe figure! It was classic when he started skreaching like Gene Simmons. If only Black Flag covered Detroit Rock City!
Saturday I went in to work to sorta break in the new web guy for one of the sister stations. That station is Jamin’ Oldies. I was going to work there if I chose to not work at DC101. That was the only other station where I liked the music they played. (Minus the classic rock station, but they are owned by some other company) So yeah, Jamin’ Oldies rock…they’ll primarily play oldies like Stevie Wonder, and Diana Ross, and Jackie Wilson. So basically a lot of MoTown. The good stuff. I love that shite. I remember from my Pop Music class in college about how MoTown kept their early sound. It was from their bassist. He would never change his strings. I guess for years he’d just use the same strings. Bizzare. What a great class. Even the dude with the excruciatingly obtrusive mullet. Uh, so I basically trained Ben that day. He also worked with me at Discovery Channel before. Uhhhh.
OK. I think i am too tired to type now. Sorta like, too drunk to fuck. Anyways, I just realized that Rollins wasnt friday. Rollins was Sunday. So anyways…before Rollins on Sunday nite was Everclear live in the DC101 studios. That was neat cos that band is relatively big, but i am not really a fan. So it was cool being there seeing all the excited people and sorta being unaffected by it. I did get to take some great pictures.
Today I woke up mega early because Dave Matthews came in. He was supposed to come in at 9ish. So they told us to leave really early because they expected people to clog up the road to get to the station. That happened more or less but I did get there early enough. Damn granola-kids. So Dave Matthews was incredibly good in his performance. Incredibly gentle and friendly. I took mad pictures with him and i’ll prolly post them someday. Maybe tomorrow or the next day. His managers/assistants were telling him he had to leave as they were gonna be late and Dave kept on signing autographs and posing for pictures. He was genuinely nice. I appreciated that. Another one of those things at the station that turned most people upsidedown. All the girls were freaking. I was pretty neutral again. Give me some Johnny Machine man and i’ll whimper like a 13 year old. Anyways. It was a good experience, and I was glad I got to take pictures for such a musician. Oh yeah, why do such annoying people really like his music. Minus Awapy. I mean how can you deny his great hooks and fantabulously interesting voice? I mean I guess I can understand someone not liking it, just like I dont like Le Tigra. But anyways. I used to totally not like them cos of the crowd that liked it, but that is just complete shite…oh well…can you dig it?
So apologies for the lack of updating. I hope i filled in the gaps. I think I missed a day or mixed up one or two there, but you get the gist. I hope you feel the funk like Feets does. Oh yeah, last nite I saw Enemy at the Gates. Go see it! Two thumbs up!
