Portishead Remixed

A year or so ago you might remember when DJ Danger Mouse did the Gray Album by mixing the Beatles’ White Album with Jay-Z’s the Black Album. An interesting idea, I thought at the time. However I wish it was more creatively executed.

It appears this was attempted again with Portishead’s Dummy simply titled, “Portishead Remixed Dumb“. It’s much more a new remix creation than a simple blending of two records. I really think this record yields interesting remix interpretations. Hardly revolutionary, but this definitely breathes new light to these older gems that have since collected a layer of dust. Above all, I find the production of most electronic and remix music fascinating and would love to sit on the shoulder of one of these remix kids. Check it out if you enjoyed Dummy and/or electronic music. A notable sample is the “shoooook” sample from The Beatles’ “Come Together” – Nicely placed and/or perhaps a nod to DJ Danger Mouse.

PS. It is funny in the liner notes of this record the creators write, “We’re Sorry.”
