dirty dee, you’re a baddy daddy lamatai tebby chai!

om_buttons (10k image)This weekend me and Emily went to Ocean City to hang with her mother and Joe at the condo she got for a few weeks from a friend. It was nice to get away and chill on the beach and have dinner with them. At dinner on Saturday night we finally got to talk a lot with Joe. He’s an interesting man and I wish he’d talk more about his life. But before dinner me and Emily loaded up with a few cameras each on our backs. Emily took the 6×6 Yashica and the Lomo and I took the Nikon SLR 35mm and the Digital. We went to this amusement park on the boardwalk and took pictures and just walked around to smell the smells. That and dust off a few rolls of film. We dont go out taking pictures that much, but when we do it’s just great and free form. I did a great series of slow sync shots of the Carosel. I think I took 30 shots for that one. We’ll see how it turns out tomorrow.

and there was this loud rhythmic sound coming from their room…

Sunday we talked with Emily’s mother about how it’s kinda wack that she’s taking 40 different pills everyday for her “medical conditions”. Sure i am sure a lot of them are needed. But shit. That’s just not smart to do. But she wasnt being that intuitive and didnt really get what me and Emily were geting at. Emily’s mother is a lot like my Mother’s father. Stubborn to the bone. No doubt about it. So who knows. Then after we both couldn’t take anymore about her health and pills and what not, we headed off to the GAP outlet and shopped a little.

Coming back I talked to Christy on the phone. She called me the night before but i didnt get back to her. She actually met up randomly with a band I played drums for briefly back in college at a bar in NYC. Totally small world. I caught up with Adam later tonight and he told me all about his promotional tour (how he met Christy), his distribution deal for his record that he’s gonna send to me and his dealings with Def Jam, etc. It was crazy. They were such fun guys to hang out with and play music. I am beginning to miss that time in my life. My friends were pretty damn cool. But then again, I like my life much more now. Regardless, it was some good times. Hopefully when they come through DC with the Judybats we’ll hang out. Mad props.

And what’s up with this Sniper in DC? Shits be fucked up. Wanker.

why can’t you think out of the box

And yeah. Pooty Tang is the best movie ever. Ever.

death cab for matty’s gift of sound and vision

dont even remember when emily took that shot...sneaky...but i like the shot of me, and that is a rare occurance...I am listening to 3WK.COM for the first time time. Miranda made a good recommendation. The first song that came on was a Mogwai song. Very loud and abrasive. Perfect for the quiet morning here at work with my 3 other co-workers. They havent told me to turn it off based on the sheer horror of asking me, i presume. I love that. MOGWAI! Death Cab for Cutie is on now. So indie rock I could kill you all.

So it’s been decided I am going on vacation next week. I am only telling the rents and the person(s) coming with me. Just like last time. You may see some pictures up here. You may not. Maybe i’ll mp3 some Commodores songs. Maybe not.

Last night was Morgan’s Birthday party. It was at ANNIE’S Steakhouse which was a “gay friendly” place. Lots of men. Four girls were there, however. Two of which were in our party. The other two had cocks. Damn i love that place. I will have to go back sometime. Lots of Red Red Meat on the menu. But we all cant be perfect. Morgan prolly had a little too much to drink. But dont we all at that age? Lots of fun. She sorta spilled a lot of stuff out on the table, so to speak, and in more ways than one. (Christy and her roomate were cooler than ever…mad props, mad mad props) Turns out she is going through the pre-college anxiety thing. But it’s completely normal yet she thinks she’s the biggest freak to walk the face of the earth. Little does she know that she’s more normal than she may realize. Damn, she’s only human. Luckily, she’s worked for Capital Records, a Major Market DC Rock Radio Station, and has oodles of charisma. She has more going for her than her whole class combined. She’s got nothing to worry about. Luckily she’s realize this one day. She better…or i’ll have to go to wherever she is and kick her ass, then go back home.

At work we have the “POOTY TANG JAR” – Basically it is for when every we sexually harass each other. (Nice how “ass” is in harass) So as you can tell sexual harassment in the radio station work place is a huge thing. Or at least in my room. It’s more a joke, but in a good funny way with people you know. So the jar is for when we say something of a harassing manner, you put in some money. Then at the end of the week we all take it and go out to lunch. At the rate we are going, we are going to take out the whole office. Damn! Hott damn!

Ambient noise above 70 db SPL was found to make human subjects tired and impair their thought processes. Noise below the threshold was barely fatiguing at all. Note that a car traveling at 70 mph generates approximately 70 db SPL of noise.

If you have a Lexus luxury sedan, you’re safe because the noise level at 70 mph is about 65 db SPL. Note that every drop of 1 db is significant and 5 db less noise is much much quieter. This is a logarithmic scale after all. If you have a modern compact, you’re probably just at about 70 db. A minivan like my 1993 Dodge Grand Caravan measures out at 73 db SPL. A sports car like a Corvette or a Porsche is well above 75 db SPL. Car & Driver magazine reports these important numbers if you’re interested in a particular car.

Every person’s threshold will be different, of course, but basically you can drive much longer distances comfortably if road noise isn’t wearing you out.

And I am listening to BRITNEY’S new record. It’s really pop. Like oooooozing pop. I also like how the Pharcyde uses a clip from the MC5. That is cool as shit.

it’s ecstasy when you lay down next to me

emily photogographing something in baltimore on sat nov 3 2001 - look at that belly! - oh, this is her version of the story...So yesterday was most likely the most productive day in the history of matkind. Well maybe not. But as far as succeeding in doing everything planed ahead of time, we sure did that, and more!

I headed to Baltimore around Noon. I actually woke up a little later than planned. Around 11am. I expected to get up at 10, but that was a little wishful thinking. I finally got out of the house with being a little terse to the Pops. I felt bad, but he was being just a little too chatty for me being in a rush. I got on 495 and boom, TRAFFIC. I could just kill a man. Why does 495 suck? Too fucking non-predictable.

Thank the lord (or Perry) that Emily gave me quite copious directions cos I made it to her apartment in 45 mins with absolutely no complications. That rules. And her apartment rules. Lots of little trinkets everywhere. Her apartment must have also been 100 years old. Age is beauty. Or something. So the first thing she does is hands me a Playboy to look at the photos and we talked about how different the ladies were from the 60s vs. now. BOOBIES!

Our first stop was to a clothing store i believe. She had to pick up medical records from a friend for a project for school involving interviewing three transexuals. Interesting none the less. Then we either went to her old work to pick up a CDROM for class or we went to OOH LA LA and bought some clothing. I got two polyester button downs and she got a tshirt. I cant remember what it said, but it sure was clever.

Ooooh, but before that, we went to the camera store and i bought a lens. A power dildo of a lens for that matter. 80-200mm f2.8! It’s incredible. Cool photo store too.

Other highlights included

  • buying vinyl records (including a Chaka Khan) record on the side of the street
  • eating at Larry’s Diner (or something like that) in Fells Point, the same place Zander and Zac took us that one time.
  • Eating (we sure ate a lot) at an Afghanistan restuarant and actually enjoying it. Emily actually only made one glass tumble to the floor ever so graciously. Luckily it was empty. So cute.
  • Going to Reptilian and seeing that man who is always at every record store i go to and every Black Cat show. Is he stalking me or something? I did pick up a book on the Louisville hardcore scene. Cant wait to hit that
  • Taking photos at the Baltimore Harbor or somewhere around there.
  • Taking photos (in DUNDALK!!!!) in the industrial part of town including a SHINGLES factory. I think half of my shots were of Emily taking photos of the machines. Fucking cool as sounds come from those machine.
  • Emily asking for directions from two beer drinking car stealing men in a wharehouse. She’s got some overies man.So after all the madness of driving around for the ultimate (?!- haha) shot we picked up PULP FICTION and watched a movie at her glorious apartment. I braved the cats too. Mad braveness man. They actually didnt kill me too bad, only my left eye started to itch and i got a weird cough. So my allergies arent as bad as they use to be. Not too shabby. One can only hope the cats fall out of the 2nd story window for next time. Only kidding. So yeah, 12+ hours with Emily was pretty damn cool. I dont think i’ve ever spent that much time with anyone after I just met them. I was actually very proud of myself for even going. That was totally unlike me. It must be her belly. No kissage. Would have been cool by me. She had the kissability. Before I fell asleep on her bed, I ventured back to the land of Mat-land. Christy called me during the day, so i returned her call. Turns out they (Morgan and Christy) didnt go to the Gay Strip club but instead were hanging out at Morgan’s place in NE. They somehow convinced me to stop by there after I left Morgan on the cell with me so I didnt get lost. Just call me Columbus. We all hung out there for a little while and I took their pictures outside with 2 second exposures. Yum. Morgan and Christy also drew on me, I think, cos I sure didnt do that. I think I finally got home at 5am. Gosh, am I tired from a fun filled day yesterday. I need to have more productive days like that.

HotelOpera: you shoulda said hi to Shelby!
