No Direction Home

Last night Emily and I finished up the Martin Scorsese documentary, No Direction Home. The film focused on the first few years of Bob Dylan’s career, unbeknownst to me. This documentary soon solidified a fact that I had already thought about for years, but hadn’t really made tangible.

It was the fact that Dylan was more punk than many of the so-called punk rockers. I am sure people who went to school for music or those crazy music critics would say differently because he didn’t have a mohawk or something trivial like that. But he defines what punk means to me, regardless of what his peers or the media thought.

That’s all for today.

  • i should watch that documentary. While i need tos ee it to confirm what you’re saying, i’m not suprised at all. I’m totally on board with defining punk as an Ethos and not as a style of dress, even though many critics and music people are so caught up in the look that they forget the ideas.
